Dr Nga Tran Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Nga Tran is a consultant psychiatrist with more than 20 years of experience working across public and private mental health services. Throughout her career, she has cared for people experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions and has developed particular expertise in working with people with trauma, eating disorders, in perinatal psychiatry, and with those from diverse cultural backgrounds. This range of experience has deepened her appreciation of the many biological, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual factors that shape a person’s mental health, and how best to help them the heal and recover.
Her practice integrates the latest evidence-based psychiatric treatments with psychotherapy and a holistic understanding of wellbeing. While psychiatric medications can play an important role, Dr Tran believes they are most effective when thoughtfully combined with psychological therapies, healthy lifestyle practices, meaningful relationships, and attention to the broader circumstances of a person’s life.
Drawing on principles of trauma-informed care, she works collaboratively with patients to understand not only symptoms, but also the factors that contribute to resilience, healing, and long-term wellbeing. She is committed to creating a warm, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic relationship where patients feel safe, heard, and empowered. Above all, Dr Tran’s goal is to help people move beyond simply managing symptoms. She works alongside her patients, supporting them to build lives that are meaningful, connected, and fulfilling.
In addition to her general psychiatric training, she has expertise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Maudsley Family Based Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Therapy, Ketamine-Assisted Therapy and Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy.
Dr Tran sees adults aged 18 years and over, and welcomes referrals for a broad range of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, ADHD, eating disorders, perinatal mental health, and complex presentations.
